Due to Atom's purpose of being a text-editor only text files are intended to be supported, compared to the single-database option NV offers.Developed and tested on MacOSX, it should work fine on Linux and Windows too but there's no guarantees right now.Still WIP, see the change log for what's been done so far, and v1 roadmap milestone for planned/upcoming features.nvALT empty search This will automatically create your new note and refocus your cursor inside the body of your new note. Time will tell.įor those of you who used Notational Velocity or nvAlt should feel right at home: it's intended to be an alternative to those applications but with the benefits of the Atom ecosystem. nvALT search results If your search comes up zero simply type a file name in the search field that represents the documentation you want to exist and hit enter. I intend to build something better, someday, but don't have the time and energy right now. That said, I am not satisfied with any of the existing options out there (Org Mode included) and still contemplating alternatives. Alas, I have outgrown my own project and decided to continue on a more standardized platform going forward. In the question 'What are the best power user tools for macOS' nvALT is ranked 34th while hyper is ranked 70th. It has been a good run of ~5 years building and using this myself! I hope you have found it as useful as me during this time. When comparing nvALT vs hyper, the Slant community recommends nvALT for most people. The interface is very minimalist-you don't waste time organising your notes in countless folders, you don't need to waste time hunting for notes, or even checking whether you have a previous note on a given topic-what you do is to type one or more keywords in the search bar and all the notes that match instantaneously appear. The project and repository will be archived soon thereafter to reflect this. □ As of Nov 2020 I am actively migrating away from this project to using Org Mode instead.
